Our company
Convinced that the environmental transition requires public transportation that can compete with cars in terms of travel time and ease of use, Urbanloopis developing a new generation of automated public transportation consisting of guided electric vehicles.
Urbanloop designs and develops its entire system: vehicles, onboard electronics, power supply, automation, safety systems, tracks, and infrastructure.
When you join us, you’ll become part of a team of engineers and technicians who design, manufacture, test, and actually commission the systems they develop.
The position and missions
AS PART OF OUR EXPANSION, URBANLOOP IS HIRING FOR OUR LOCATION IN NANCY AN ELECTRONICS/ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
Above all, we are looking for an engineer witha strong focus on project execution.
This isn't just a desk job: at Urbanloop, engineers are directly involved in building prototypes and pre-production units, conducting tests, integrating the systems into vehicles and on test tracks, and finally putting them into service.
You will be responsible for electrical and electronic systems from their design through to their actual operation in the field.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- define the technical solutions needed to meet the functional requirements of the Urbanloop system;
- design electronic or electrical engineering systems or electrical interfaces;
- select and size components;
- produce or directly participate in the manufacturing of prototypes and pre-production units;
- perform the wiring, modifications, adaptations, and integrations necessary for the tests;
- develop systems on test benches, in vehicles, and then directly on our test tracks;
- conduct functional tests and identify necessary improvements;
- diagnose breakdowns and malfunctions and quickly provide solutions;
- refine the prototypes until a robust, industrially viable solution is achieved;
- prepare the diagrams, technical files, and documents necessary for manufacturing and maintenance;
- support the production of production-run versions, whether manufactured in-house or outsourced;
- be responsible for the technical aspects of the modules developed until they are delivered to the field teams;
- then provide ongoing support for their operation, offer technical assistance, and, when necessary, perform troubleshooting.
SYSTEMS YOU'LL BE ABLE TO WORK ON
The topics are very diverse and directly related to the operation of Urbanloop vehicles and infrastructure:
- remote controls and control interfaces;
- electronics and power modules;
- motor and actuator control boards;
- vehicle door electronics;
- feeding systems;
- ventilation, cooling, and air conditioning systems;
- wiring of PLCs and safety controllers;
- sensors and interfaces;
- on-board electrical systems;
- track power supply wiring harnesses and electrical enclosures
HIGHLY OPERATIONAL FUNCTION
The team is currently organized around a technical manager, design engineers, and technicians/cable installers.
Mass production can be carried out by our in-house teams or outsourced to subcontractors.
On the other hand, when it comes to prototypes and initial integrations, we expect our engineers to be able to pick up the tools, wire things up, measure, test, make adjustments, and start over until the system works and passes field tests.
This will allow you to move, all in a single day, from the CAD design or dimensioning of a circuit board to its integration into a module, and then on to testing and measurements directly on our circuit.
Profile and skills required
WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE:
- a degree in engineering or equivalent in electronics, electrical engineering, or embedded systems;
- with a strong interest in prototyping and hands-on implementation;
- just as comfortable working with a computer as with an oscilloscope, a multimeter, a soldering iron, or a wiring harness;
- able to quickly understand a system, diagnose a problem, and propose a solution;
- independent, pragmatic, and methodical;
- enjoys testing, experimenting, and improving;
- able to work as part of a team with mechanical engineers, automation engineers, electronics engineers, developers, and technicians;
- able to oversee a system from the initial concept through to its implementation in the field.
Skills or experience in power electronics, embedded systems, automation, electric motors, circuit board design, or industrial or rail wiring will be particularly valued.
Knowledge of railway standards is a plus, but above all, we are looking for someone with excellent technical skills who is curious and capable of turning their designs into working solutions using simple, robust, and cost-effective methods.
